Square Enix wants to know if you’d buy a NieR edition game console

Square Enix wants to know if you’d buy a NieR edition game console

Yoko Taro wants one with controllers full of salt.

NieR

Square Enix wants to know if you would buy a NieR-themed game console. (We’re assuming they’re talking about PlayStation 4, considering NieR: Automata is a PlayStation 4 title and they mention “Pro,” but the hardware’s name is never actually used.)

In a tweet, the official NieR Twitter account asked: “Hypothetically… this is hypoethical, but I’ll just ask everyone, if there was a NieR-style game console, would you want it?” A poll attached to the tweet includes the options “I would buy it,” “I would buy two,” “I would buy one, and a Pro,” and “I wouldn’t buy it.”

NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro responded to the poll in a very Yoko Taro-like tweet. “If there is a NieR-style game console, how about a “Summer Snow” model with salt tightly packed in the crevices of the controller buttons? Eh? You game? It can’t be done of course. Because it’s filled with salt. The substrates like the wiring will rust.”

NieR: Automata will launch for PlayStation 4 in Japan in standard and Black Box editions on February 23. It is due out for PlayStation 4 and PC in North America and Europe in early 2017. A demo will be released by the end of 2016.

Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers rated in Australia

Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers rated in Australia

New title? Or Eiketsuden localization?

Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden

The Australian Classification board has rated something called Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers.

A new Dynasty Warriors game with that subtitle has yet to be announced, but Koei Tecmo did file a trademark for “Godseekers” in August 2015.

Koei Tecmo promised it would have a “big” Dynasty Warriors announcement in 2016 to commemorate the series’ 15th anniversary, but has yet to make any.

On the other hand, rather than a completely new game, this could be a localization of Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden, Koei Tecmo’s strategy RPG for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita launched in Japan in August.

Jeff Minter announces Polybius for PlayStation VR

Jeff Minter announces Polybius for PlayStation VR

A new, ludic psychedelia.

Polybius

Llamasoft, a studio founded by Jeff Minter, has announced Polybius, a new PlayStation VR-exclusive “ludic psychedelia” title inspired by an unknown arcade game.

Minter details the entire story about how Polybius came to be over at the PlayStation Blog. In short, he was taken to a warehouse full of arcade cabinets and made to play one in particular, which was an experience he couldn’t describe, but for all its profundity it included feelings of “deep-seated floating anxiety and temporary amnesia.” Minter wanted to create a game that replicates what he played, leaving out the bad stuff in favor of a relaxing and mildly therapeutic effect, despite all of its speed and hyperstimulation.

Polybius is that game and will be playable at Play Expo in Manchester this weekend. According to Minter, development is “nearly done.”

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru details story, playable Takeda Katsuyori and Tokugawa Hidetada, more

Koei Tecmo has released new information and screenshots of Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru, detailing the game’s story and latest confirmed playable characters.

Get the details below.

■ Story

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Fall, 1561, the fourth year of the Eiroku era. During the Sengoku period—.

Kai’s Takeda Shingen and Echigo’s Uesugi Kenshin, who had persisted in violent battles around the lands of Shinano, were about to confront each other for the fourth time in Kawanakajima.

This battle was the first for Takeda Shingen and Sanada Masayuki.

Masayuki is the father of “the strongest warrior in the land of the rising sun,” Sanada Yukimura, as well as the strategist later considered the most feared by Tokugawa Ieyasu, and at this point was only a young samurai—.

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Several years after basking in the gains of his spectacular first battle, two sons were born to Masayuki.

They were Sanada Nobuyuki and Sanada Yukimura.

The young children were cherished by the people around them and quickly grew.

Around the same time, the Takeda house was also in high spirits. After winning Suruga, Shingen finally set out to the capital. Amid this, he confronted Masayuki, who had become his worst enemy.

A big wave can be seen in this turbulent war. Before the harsh fate that awaits, what path will Masayuki, and then Yukimura, choose?

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

■ Characters

Sanada Nobuyuki (Child) (voiced by Daisuke Ono)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Sanada Nobuyuki as a young boy. As the eldest brother, he is wise and prudent. He loves his younger brother Yukimura, who in contrast to himself prefers to take action first, and watches over him warmly.

Sanada Nobuyuki (Adult) (voiced by Daisuke Ono)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

After the Battle of Sekigahara, Nobuyuki became the head of the Sanada family. Relied on by Ieyasu, he receives both Numata and Ueda, and his personality as daimyo matures. Although he desires Masayuki and Yukimura’s pardon、Yukimura again chooses to side with Tokugawa. The time of the brothers’ separation approaches.

Takeda Katsuyori (voiced by Hiroshi Okamoto)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

The fourth son of Takeda Shingen. After the death of his older brother, Yoshinobu, he became the heir. Having a relationship that goes beyond master and servant with Sanada Masayuki, they came to have a deep reliance on each other. He is a slim and good-hearted young noble, but rather than cowardice, in battle he shows his talents like a fierce god. After succeeding to head of the family upon Shingen’s sudden death, he broods over not protecting the honor of the Takeda name.

Tokugawa Hidetada (Young Man) (voiced by Yuusuke Honda)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

The third son of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He is in a position to be heir, but due to his haughtiness and sarcasm, he his beyond his family’s control. Even to his father, Ieyasu, his attitude does not change. He has his first battle in the Battle of Sekigahara, where he leads a detached force together with Sanada Nobuyuki.

As a unique character in this game, Koei Tecmo is mainly designing a new face for Tokugawa Hidetada. After meeting certain conditions, you’ll be able to use him as a playable character.

Tokugawa Hidetada (Adult) (voiced by Yuusuke Honda)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

The second generation Tokugawa Shogunate shogun. His haughtiness and sarcasm has not changed, but the experience he gained in his first battle brought on major changes in his state of mind. Facing the Siege of Osaka, in which he settles his dispute with Toyotomi, he is confronted with Sanada Yukimura’s resolve.

Just like his young self, you can play as Adult Tokugawa Hidetada after meeting certain conditions.

Muramatsau-dono (Child, not playable) (voiced by Ayaka Maeda)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Muramatsu as a young child. Young but a person of firm character, she not only looks after her younger brothers, she also shows concern for her father, Masayuki. When Sanada becomes a vassal of Oda, she is sent to Azuchi as a hostage.

Muramatsau-dono (Young Woman, not playable) (voiced by Ayaka Maeda)

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru

Sanada Masayuki’s eldest daughter and the older sister of Nobuyuki and Yukimura. A kind and gentle woman who is always smiling. She gives advice to and watches over her brother Yukimura, who worries about their father, Masayuki. She has a strong heart and never loses her composure, and doesn’t abandon her Masayuki as he is all she has.

Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on November 23 in Japan. A western release is also planned in 2017.
